CM Interacts Warmly With Villagers and Reviews Ground-Level Status of Welfare Schemes During Sushasan Tihar 2026

Raipur, / Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai visited Gram Kamaroud in Bagbahara development block of Mahasamund district under Sushasan Tihar 2026 on May 22. He held a chaupal beneath banyan tree and directly interacted with villagers. He reviewed the implementation of government welfare schemes at the ground level. Earlier, the Chief Minister offered prayers at the Maa Durga temple and wished for the happiness, prosperity, and well-being of the state's people.

During the chaupal, the Chief Minister said that the government is reaching out to villages to ensure that citizens are receiving the benefits of ration distribution, electricity services, the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, the Mahtari Vandan Yojana, and other welfare initiatives properly and transparently.

He said that the purpose of Sushasan Tihar is to bring governance and administration directly to the doorsteps of citizens and ensure “quick and accountable resolution” of public grievances. The Chief Minister informed villagers that he has already visited 16 districts across the state and has interacted directly with citizens regarding development issues and the implementation of welfare measures.

During interactions with women beneficiaries, Shri Vishnu Deo Sai enquired about the implementation of the Mahtari Vandan Yojana. Women informed him that they regularly receive financial assistance. Smt Dev Kumari Sahu stated that she is saving the money received under the scheme for her daughter’s future.

A special moment during the chaupal came when the Chief Minister, smilingly asked Class 5 student Purvansh Sahu, “Shall we take a selfie?” The student enthusiastically clicked a selfie with the Chief Minister, creating an “emotional and memorable moment” during the programme.

The Chief Minister also shared information regarding the Bijli Bill Samadhan Yojana, the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, and Atal Digital Seva Kendra operating at the panchayat level. He stated that 18 lakh houses have already been sanctioned under the housing scheme in Chhattisgarh, and construction of an additional 10 lakh houses has also commenced. He further informed that nearly 6,000 Atal Digital Seva Kendra have been established across the state to improve citizens’ access to government services.

CM Shri Sai also announced that the state government would soon launch an online grievance redressal system, through which citizens would be able to register complaints from home using mobile phones. A toll-free number would also be introduced.

During interactions with farmers, the Chief Minister referred to global factors affecting agriculture and stated that the government is making continuous efforts to ensure the timely availability of fertilisers to farmers. He also encouraged the use of nano urea as part of sustainable agricultural practices.

Highlighting irrigation expansion efforts, the Chief Minister stated that the Sirpur Barrage and the Sikaser-to-Kodar irrigation project would serve as “lifeline infrastructure” for the Mahasamund district. He said increasing farmers’ income remains one of the government’s highest priorities. It is noteworthy that work is underway on a project worth nearly Rs. 3,200 crore to bring water from Sikaser Dam in Gariaband district to the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh Reservoir at Kodar.

Revenue Minister Shri Tank Ram Verma said that the government is travelling village to village to listen directly to the concerns of citizens. He stated that Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai himself is visiting rural areas to ensure prompt resolution of public issues. He added that schemes such as the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and Mahtari Vandan Yojana have significantly improved the lives of poor and needy families across the state. He also stated that areas like Bastar, which earlier faced violence, are now witnessing sports and cultural activities.

During the chaupal, Smt. Lata Sahis shared that she had benefited from the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, the Mahtari Vandan Yojana, and the LPG cylinder scheme. Another villager, Smt Madhu Sahu, spoke about her involvement in fish farming and highlighted water scarcity during summer. In response, the Chief Minister directed officials to provide a solar-powered borewell facility.

Beneficiary Smt. Pari Sahu, associated with the Bihan Yojana, informed the Chief Minister that she had become self-reliant after joining a self-help group and now runs a fancy and grocery shop. She said that after joining the scheme, she is now known as a “Lakhpati Didi.”

Villager Shri Mohan Kuldeep shared his experience under the PM Surya Ghar Yojana and stated that after installing solar panels in December 2025, he received a subsidy of Rs. 1.08 lakh. He added that while his earlier electricity bill was around Rs. 3,500, it has now reduced to zero. The Chief Minister encouraged villagers to avail themselves of the benefits of the solar energy scheme.

*Assistive Devices Bring Smiles to Specially-abled Beneficiaries*

During the chaupal, Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai distributed assistive devices to three beneficiaries with special needs. Bharti Markandey received a wheelchair, while Ravi Kumar Patel and Yadram Sahu were provided tricycles. Beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister and said the support would significantly improve their daily mobility and quality of life.

The Chief Minister stated that the state government remains committed to making the lives of Specially-abled citizens “accessible, dignified, and self-reliant” and instructed officials to ensure that welfare benefits reach eligible beneficiaries on priority.

During the programme, Shri Vishnu Deo Sai announced the construction of a fully equipped building for women where social, cultural, and self-help group activities could be conducted. He also announced the construction of a 4-kilometre road from Kamaroud to Charoda and the establishment of a Mukti Dham in the village. The announcements were welcomed enthusiastically by villagers, who expressed their gratitude to the Chief Minister.

MP Smt Roop Kumari Choudhary, MLA Shri Yogeshwar Raju Sinha, other public representatives, officials, and a large number of villagers were present.
