Rajnandgaon will be Developed as a Model City with Modern Urban Amenities: Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai
Bhoomipujan of Development Works Worth Over Rs 226 Crore, Including Foundation for a 2,000-Seater State-of-the-Art Auditorium*
Raipur/ Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai today virtually participated in the foundation-laying ceremony for a series of development projects in the Municipal Corporation area of Rajnandgaon from the his Residence Office in Nava Raipur. On the occasion, he performed bhoomipujan for various development works worth over Rs 226 crore.
Congratulating the residents of Rajnandgaon, Chief Minister Shri Sai said that the foundation-laying ceremony signifies not merely the commencement of development works, but the laying of a strong foundation for the city’s bright and prosperous future.
Shri Sai stated that the State Government is consistently working towards balanced and inclusive development across Chhattisgarh, guided by the principle of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas aur Sabka Prayas.” Advancing the national vision of _Viksit Bharat_, he said that Rajnandgaon has an important role in building _Viksit Chhattisgarh._ He emphasised that expanding civic amenities in accordance with the city’s growing population remains a key priority of the government, and through these projects the aim is to ensure that the benefits of development reach every ward of the city.
Chief Minister further informed that under the AMRIT Mission 2.0, two new sewage treatment plants will be established in the city to ensure scientific treatment of domestic wastewater. This initiative will prevent untreated water from flowing directly into rivers and drains, thereby contributing to environmental protection while safeguarding public health.
He added that under the Mukhyamantri Nagarotthan Yojana, roads in the city are being widened and beautified to improve traffic flow and support the growth of commercial activities.
Shri Sai also announced that a large, state-of-the-art 2,000-seater auditorium will be constructed in Rajnandgaon. The facility will provide a vibrant platform for the city’s cultural, literary and artistic activities, strengthening its identity as _Sanskaradhani._ Local artists, writers and youth will gain wider opportunities to showcase their talents, he said, adding that the auditorium will emerge as a distinctive landmark for the city.
In addition, provisions have been made for the upgradation of Transport Nagar, construction of drainage systems, expansion of pipeline networks, and strengthening of basic civic infrastructure across all 51 wards of the city.
Under _Swachh Bharat Mission,_ Chief Minister said, new plants are being established to further strengthen waste management systems. Our goal is to ensure that Rajnandgaon should not merely participate in the _Swachhta Survekshan_ rankings but emerge as one of the leading clean cities of the country.
He emphasised that ensuring the benefits of public resources reach citizens directly remains a key priority of the government, and accordingly the pace of development works across the state has been accelerated.
Chief Minister also noted that Rajnandgaon is progressing rapidly under the guidance of Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly Speaker Dr Raman Singh and with the cooperation of local public representatives. Through their vision and public participation, he said, the city is being steadily developed as a model city of Chhattisgarh. He also assured that pending infrastructure proposals related to the district would be approved at the earliest.
Addressing the programme, Assembly Speaker Dr Raman Singh said that Rajnandgaon holds a special place in his heart and described the day as an important milestone in the city’s development journey. Expressing gratitude to the Chief Minister, he informed that the Sankalp Budget 2026–27 provides Rs 1,000 crore for the comprehensive development of Rajnandgaon district.
Dr Singh further stated that Rs 250 crore worth of projects have been approved for the conservation, rejuvenation and development of the Shivnath River. In addition, several development works have been proposed through different departments, including Rs 20 crore for the Panchayat and Rural Development Department, Rs 20 crore for the School Education Department, Rs 60 crore under the Urban Administration Department, and approximately Rs 200 crore through the Public Works Department.
He also informed that Rs 8.80 crore has been sanctioned for the development of sports facilities, including the installation of turf and other amenities at the Hockey Stadium, while Rs 6 crore has been allocated for strengthening sports infrastructure at Digvijay Stadium, which will provide better facilities for the youth.
Among those present at the programme were Rajnandgaon District In-charge Minister Shri Gajendra Yadav, Member of Parliament Shri Santosh Pandey, Chairman of the Chhattisgarh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board Dr Rampratap Singh, Mayor Shri Madhusudan Yadav, and several other public representatives.
