Centre Sanctions Additional Disaster Relief Funds; Chhattisgarh to Get ₹15.70 Crore
Raipur// The Union Government has approved additional financial assistance for states affected by natural disasters. A high-level committee chaired by Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah has sanctioned ₹1,912.99 crore as additional central assistance for states impacted by disasters such as floods, flash floods, cloudbursts, landslides and Cyclone Montha during 2025. Under this decision, Chhattisgarh will receive ₹15.70 crore as additional assistance.
Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai expressed gratitude to Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah for the Centre’s support in strengthening disaster response and relief efforts in the state.
The assistance will be released from the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF) to help states accelerate relief, rehabilitation and reconstruction activities in affected areas. The Union Government stated that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, it stands firmly with states during natural disasters and extends all possible support. Ensuring the availability of adequate resources for prompt relief and rehabilitation in disaster-affected regions remains a key priority.
Meanwhile, this assistance is in addition to the funds already released to states during the current financial year. In 2025–26, the Union Government has provided substantial support for disaster management across the country. A total of ₹20,735.20 crore has been released to 28 states under the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF), while ₹3,628.18 crore has been provided to 21 states under the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF).
In addition, ₹5,373.20 crore has been released to 23 states under the State Disaster Mitigation Fund (SDMF) and ₹1,189.56 crore to 21 states under the National Disaster Mitigation Fund (NDMF) to strengthen long-term disaster risk reduction and mitigation measures.
